Most clients just want a dog that is a pleasure to own, and we teach accordingly. No one wants to keep nagging a dog and telling it what to do, our behavioural approach teaches the understanding of canine motivations and emotions, to help you relate to your dog more effectively, reward appropriate behaviours, and build on your relationship together.
Our practical sessions support social expectations, to help ensure your dog walks nicely on lead, ignores others unless invited, and comes back quickly when called; a dog that knows how to relax & settle; calmly meet people, dogs & other animals; accepts being handled, inspected & groomed; plays politely with toys; and most importantly, a dog that has developed self-control, good manners and a positive response to its' owners despite distractions.
We have been running group classes since 1994, and we have been based outdoors in Finsbury Park since 2000. Alpha has been placed in the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards three times in the late nineties and proudly won the overall trophy award in 2000, presented at Crufts in March 2001. We also provided Bronze or Puppy teams on three occasions at Discover Dogs. We run testing sessions for the GCDS several times during the year, allowing our more enthusiastic clients to continue training generally or with the aim to achieve the Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold level awards.
