The Alpha Team would like to wish you all a very happy festive break and hope you have lots of fun with your treasured canine companions. We will be re-opening on Thursday 6th January and taking bookings closer to the time subject to any updated Covid regulations. We will be available however to give you guidance on settling new puppies and dogs into your home and or advice with managing your dog's behaviour if you have concerns, so feel free to call if you do need some help.
We are currently experiencing some computer problems needing repairs, so please call to enquire about training / behaviour and or an booking introductory session. For those booking a follow-up session, please remember to use your registration number when leaving a message. We apologise for any inconvenience and delays during the next week or so.
We are starting back from Sunday 8th, and hoping for good weather over the next couple of weeks. Feel free to contact us and book your place. Best regards The Alpha team.
We have just returned from an Instructors' award course, sadly sent home a little early due to one member of the tutor team getting a +ve test result. So far all other course members are -ve, but we are required to isolate until and including Sat 7th August. We aim therefore, all being well, to resume on Sun 8th August and are now taking tentative bookings for this Sunday and next week ... Puppies Tuesday & Saturday, all over 6mths Thursday & Sunday, with fingers crossed!
Alpha will be closed from Thursday 22nd July through to Sunday 1st August inclusive. We apologise for any inconvenience and would appreciate it if you do not 'call' or send a 'contact us' form during this time. In the meantime, enjoy your dogs and your training. With our very best wishes - the Alpha Team.
Subject to Covid regulations, weather and pre-booked limited numbers, we are running our first testing sessions for over a year. These will take place on Sunday 4th July. Silver at 10.30am and Bronze at 12.30pm. We may run a Gold test in the afternoon if sufficient interest. Please let us know asap if you would like to participate, and we wish good luck to all that do.
We are now taking bookings (subject to any further restrictions) for group classes (with restricted numbers) which start again from Tuesday March 30th, and will be running over the Easter weekend. Just call to arrange, and for those that have been before or attended a zoom session, please don't forget to give your puppy / dog's registration number when leaving a message. We are really looking forward to seeing you soon, albeit with face coverings and social distancing. The Alpha Team.
As lockdown continues, restrictions prevent all professionals from running group classes. 1:1's are only allowed if they are 'essential' and general training is not considered so. We are working online via 'zoom' continuing to provide our (still proving beneficial) 2hr introductory assessment session, and giving comprehensive guidance for those with young puppies or for those experiencing signs of problem behaviour.
Please take care if others are offering 'meet-ups' or 'play groups for puppies' as these may seem appealing but they are, not only, not allowed (ie only one person can meet with one other person to walk with maintaining 2 metre distance), but in many cases the dogs are not being properly controlled (eg over-exercised and over stimulated) ... a situation potentially leading to bad manners and or many health and behaviour problems down the line. Most parks also require dogs to remain on-leash or under control as dogs generally should not be running up to other people or dogs invading personal space. Please note that only 8% of 'socialisation' is about exposure to other dogs ... there is so much more to do. Sadly, the word has been abused and peer pressure leads new owners thinking that the major part of taking their dogs out is to find other dogs for it to play with. Please do not hesitate to call for further advice and or to arrange a training / behaviour session. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients and their lovely family dogs a safe and merry Christmas. We also hope that 2021 brings good health and happiness to you all at this uncertain time. We thank our dedicated staff for all their hard work helping people to understand and train dogs as well as their voluntary support for Alpha. We will be finalising our Charity funds and listing our donations in the new year, thanking you all or your contributions.
